It shall be unlawful during the months of May, June, July, August and September of each year for any person to walk, drive, ride, bathe, swim or otherwise be on thebeach, as defined in this chapter, from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. the following day, excepting City employees who clean thebeach, during their performance of such duty, Police Department and other members in the Department of Public Safety.
ARE BICYCLEs ALLOWED ON THE BOARDWALK ?
According to Municipal Ordinance 150-2
A. It shall be unlawful during the period commencing May 15 of each year through September 30 of each year for any person to ride a bicycle on the Boardwalk or its approaches during such times as City Council, by way of resolution approved by the Mayor, from time to time shall designate.
B. It shall be unlawful during the period commencing May 15 of each year through September 30 of each year for any person to use any wheeled device that primarily is used for recreational purposes such as, by way of example, but not by way of limitation, skateboards, roller skates, roller blades, scooters, go-carts or similar items or devices upon the Boardwalk and its approaches at any time.
C. Pursuant to the authority contained in N.J.S.A. 39:4-10.1c(2), neither bicycle operators nor bicycle passengers shall be required to wear a helmet on the Boardwalk in the City of North Wildwood.
ARE BICYCLES ALLOWED ON THE SEAWALL ?
According to Municipal Ordinance 138-34
No person shall engage in any of the activities set forth below on the Hereford InletSeawalland its appurtenances and approaches:
A. Operate or cause to be operated a self-propelled wheeled device such as, by way of example but not by way of limitation, skateboards, bicycles, roller blades, roller skates and scooters. This subsection shall not be interpreted to apply to the use of medically necessary devices, such as wheelchairs and walkers, on theseawall.
B. Operate or cause to be operated any motor vehicle or any motorized wheeled device such as, by way of example and not by way of limitation, motorcycles, minibikes, motor scooters, go-carts and electric personal assistive mobility devices (as defined in N.J.S.A. 39:4-14.10). This subsection shall not be interpreted to apply to the use of medically necessary devices such as motorized wheelchairs on theseawall.
D. Climb upon or stand on any railings, fences, benches or signs.
E. Sleep upon theseawall, its appurtenances and approaches or any benches located thereon.
F. Hawk, peddle or sell any article, goods, wares, merchandise or services.
ARE DOGS ALLOWED ON BEACH ?
According to Municipal Ordinance 138-3:O
O. To allow dogs, cats or any other animal upon the beaches of the City of North Wildwood, with the following exception:
(1) Dogs may be permitted on the beaches of the City of North Wildwood from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., and from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
(a) Dogs on the beach must be on a leash not greater than eight feet in length.
(b) Dogs are not permitted on dunes, in any environmentally sensitive area, or in any other area restricted by appropriate signage as determined by the City of North Wildwood.
(c) Any person or association of persons not undertaking, in connection with a dog in his/her/their control, the immediate cleanup and disposal of dog solid waste on the beach, as outlined in § 126-12of the Code of the City of North Wildwood, shall be subject, upon conviction, to a fine of not less than $100 for the first offense, $500 for the second offense and $1,000 for each subsequent offense.
CAN I WALK MY DOG ON THE BOARDWALK ?
According to Municipal Ordinance 150-3:
Dogs, cats and any other domestic animals shall not be permitted upon the Boardwalk of the City of North Wildwood at any time.
Dogs, cats and any other domestic animals shall not be permitted upon the Beach/Boardwalk of the City of North Wildwood at any time with the exception of ADA Service Animals which are permitted at all times.
CAN I DRIVE MY VEHICLE ON THE BEACH ?
Except as provided for the purposes of work and with a permit issued by the Chief of Police, it shall be unlawful to operate any motor vehicle, of any type or description, including but not limited to automobiles, trucks, buses, motorcycles, motorbikes, minibikes, motor scooters and go-carts, on any of the beaches within the City limits of the City of North Wildwood, New Jersey.
It shall be lawful to operate a motorvehicle, licensed under this article, on thebeachesof this City, pursuant to the terms of this article, only as follows:
A. For the purpose of sport surf fishing, the dates and times are:
(1)On the Inlet Beach, from New York Avenue to the intersection of John F. Kennedy Beach Drive and 2nd Avenue: from the day after Labor Day until the third Friday in May, from 4:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.
(2) On the Front Beach, from the intersection of John F. Kennedy Beach Drive and 2nd Avenue to 26th Avenue: from October 1 until April 30, from 4:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.
(3) On the Front Beach, from the intersection of John F. Kennedy Beach Drive and 2nd Avenue to 26th Avenue: from the day after Labor Day until the third Friday in May, from 4:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.

B. [1]For any other recreational purpose deemed appropriate and approved by the Chief of Police or his designee or at the direction of the Director of Public Safety. Dates and times for said recreational purposes are identical to those enumerated under § 138-6A.

C. For any other purpose deemed appropriate for commercialvehiclesby the Chief of Police of the City of North Wildwood or his designee or at the direction of the Director of Public Safety.
D. For the purpose of operating a beach tram, which shall be operated by the City of North Wildwood or an individual or entity under contract with the City of North Wildwood.
The following regulations shall apply to motorvehiclesto be operated on thebeachesfor sport fishing:
A. A person desiring to operate a motorvehicleon thebeachesof this City for sport fishing or any other approved recreational purpose shall make application for a license to do so at the City Police Department during regular business hours only. The applicant shall present his motorvehiclefor inspection at the time and place designated by the Police Department, and saidvehiclemust bear a current inspection sticker issued by the state in which thevehicleis registered, if required for the operation on the highways of that state. The applicant shall also supply his name, address, driver's license andvehicleregistration.
B. The City Police Department shall collect a fee of $20 for each license issued hereunder. Such license shall be valid from the date issued until the following Thursday before Memorial Day. The applicant, if properly qualified, shall, in addition to his license, receive a descriptive decal which is to be exhibited in plain view on the motorvehiclelicensed under this article at all times while on thebeaches.
C. The following equipment must be carried in anyvehicleusing the City of North Wildwoodbeaches: tow rope, jack with a board, inflated spare tire, shovel, fire extinguisher with necessary material and supplies, first-aid kit and flashlight.
D. Only a person licensed under this article may operate a motorvehicleon thebeachesof this City during the prescribed periods of time, and he may only operate avehiclelicensed under the provisions of this article.
According to Municipal Ordinance 418-33: Novehicleshall be driven on theBoardwalkwithout having first obtained a permit from the Police Department of the City of North Wildwood, with the exception for work purposes(pursuant to Chapter150, ArticleII, of the Code of the City of North Wildwood.)
A. Any person desiring to operate a motor vehicle on the Boardwalk of this City shall make application for a license to do so at the City of North Wildwood Police Department during regular business hours only. The applicant shall present his motor vehicle for inspection at the time and place designated by the Police Department, and said vehicle must bear a current inspection sticker issued by the state in which the vehicle is registered, if required for operation on the highways of that state. The applicant shall also supply his name, address, driver's license, vehicle registration, proof of motor vehicle insurance and reason for the issuance of said permit. Permits will be issued for a specific time period, which will be so designated on the permit. All permits issued shall have designated thereon the ramp which is to be used for access to the Boardwalk and the area in which the vehicle will be permitted to travel on the Boardwalk. No permits will be issued for the months of June, July and August unless a dire emergency exists.
B. All permits shall be issued at the sole discretion of the Chief of Police of the City of North Wildwood or his designee or at the direction of the Director of Public Safety of the City of North Wildwood. Any abuse of permit privileges will result in immediate revocation of the same.
C. The fee for said permit or license shall be $10 per day; however, a thirty-day permit or license may be obtained for a fee of $25. Said fee shall be payable through the City of North Wildwood, Police Department, upon the obtaining of the permit or license.
IS THERE A BEACH I CAN SURF ON IN NORTH WILDWOOD ?
North Wildwood Beach Patrol has announced that the only current surfing beach location is at 2nd Street. The 12th Street beach is closed temporarily until the beach replenishment project is finished. However, boogie boards are allowed on every beach.
