The North Wildwood Police Department is currently seeking mature adults looking for employment opportunities in positions related to the field of criminal justice. NWPD is extremely proud to be the starting point for many current Police Officers who began their training in North Wildwood and went on to careers in many areas of law enforcement throughout the entire country.

POSITIONS AVAILABLE
Due to the influx of visitors and call volume, the North Wildwood Police Department annually fills positions in the following job categories:
SLEO Class II (35) SLEO Class I (15) Seasonal Dispatcher (4)
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS & PROCESS - Special Law Enforcement Officers (SLEO II) are authorized to exercise full police powers and duties similar to those of a permanent, regularly appointed full-time police officer. Applicants for SLEO II employment must be able to perform the essential functions of police work and are subject to a background investigation that will include a criminal history, driver’s license check, physical fitness & mental health testing, and reference checks. Drug testing will also be held prior to and/or during academy training. SLEO II Police Academy training is held twice a year, in the spring and winter months. Upon graduation, students will be issued a PTC Class Two Special Law Enforcement Officer Certification. The SLEO I & II Positions are not Civil Service positions.

College Credits Available
The North Wildwood Police Department will assist those colleges that have credit earning programs. This will include interviews, evaluations and samples of the employee’s work product. We urge those interested to contact their school advisors that manage college credits. In the past, recruits have received up to 12 credits through the Cape May County Police Academy by working during their summer break at the North Wildwood Police Department.
